अदान्मे ज्ञानमैश्वर्यं स्वस्मिन्भावं च केशवः ॥ ३९ ॥
adān me jñānam aiśvaryaṁ svasmin bhāvaṁ ca keśavaḥ
Synonyms
brahman — O brāhmaṇa [Vyāsa]; avetya — knowing [jñātvā169]; [that]; imam — this; sva-nigamam — instruction of His [the systematic set of teachings set forth in this chapter (imaṁ krameṇa pūrvoktam);170 which constitutes His innermost supreme teaching of the Vedas (nijāntaraṅga parama-veda-rūpam)171]; anuṣṭhitam — was carefully adhered to; mat — by me [mayā172]; keśavaḥ — Keśava [Kṛṣṇa]; adāt — bestowed; me — upon me [mahyam173]; jñānam — [first] immediate intuition [of Him (prathamato jñānaṁ svānubhavam)]; aiśvaryam — [then] majestic power [in the form of His intrinsic metanormal powers, such as atomicity and so on (tataḥ aiśvaryaṁ svāṇimādi-rūpam)]; ca — and; bhāvam — [finally] divine love [signifying that when He understood that I was unattached to such powers (tatas tatrānāsaktau), He bestowed upon me bhāva, or His own supreme divine love (bhāvaṁ sva-mahā-premāṇañ ca)174]; svasmin — for Him.
Translation
O brāhmaṇa, knowing that this instruction of His was carefully adhered to by me, Keśava bestowed upon me [first] immediate intuition of Him, then His majestic power, and finally divine love for Him.
