नामान्यनन्तस्य यशोऽङ्कितानि यत्शृण्वन्ति गायन्ति गृणन्ति साधवः ॥ ११ ॥
yasmin prati-ślokam abaddhavaty api
nāmāny anantasya yaśo’ṅkitāni yat
śṛṇvanti gāyanti gṛṇanti sādhavaḥ

[on the other hand (tu)48]; abaddhavati api — even if grammatically defective [(apa-śabdādi yukte’pi), or devoid of poetic artistry (vināpi pada-cāturyam)49]; tat — that; vāk-visargaḥ — linguistic composition [vācaḥ prayogaḥ]; yasmin — in which; prati-ślokam — each verse; nāmāni [bhavanti] — [contains] the names; yaśaḥ aṅkitāni — that are imprinted with the glory; anantasya — of the Limitless One [Bhagavān]; viplavaḥ — destroys [nāśayati]; agha — the sins; janatā — of humanity [jana-samūhas tasya]; [since (tatra hetuḥ)]; yat — these are the names which [yāni nāmāni]; sādhavaḥ — saintly devotees; śṛṇvanti — hear [if a speaker is present (vaktari sati)]; gṛṇanti — recite [if a listener is present (śrotari sati)]; gāyanti — [and] sing [to themselves, if neither is present (anyadā tu svayam eva kīrtayanti)].
Translation
[On the other hand,] even if grammatically defective, that linguistic composition in which each verse contains the names that are imprinted with the glory of the Limitless One [Bhagavān], destroys the sins of humanity, since these are the names that saintly devotees hear, recite, and sing.
