तमभिज्ञाय सहसा प्रत्युत्थायागतं मुनिः ।
पूजयामास विधिवन्नारदं सुरपूजितम् ॥ ३३ ॥

tam abhijñāya sahasā pratyutthāyāgataṁ muniḥ
pūjayām āsa vidhivan nāradaṁ sura-pūjitam

Synonyms
muniḥ — [when] sage [Vyāsa]; abhijñāya — became aware; nāradam — [that] Nārada; sura-pūjitam — who is honored [even] by the gods; āgatam — had arrived; pratyutthāya — he stood up; sahasā — at once; pūjayāmāsa — [and] worshiped; tam — him; vidhi-vat — according to the sacred rites [or “as he would worship Brahmā” (vidhiṁ brahmāṇam iva)141].
Translation
When sage Vyāsa became aware that Nārada, who is honored even by the gods, had arrived, he stood up at once [to receive him] and worshiped him according to the sacred rites.
