उद्धरिष्यन्नुपादत्त यज्ञेशः सौकरं वपुः ॥ ७ ॥
uddhariṣyann upādatta yajñeśaḥ saukaraṁ vapuḥ
Synonyms
tu — then [thereafter]; bhavāya — for the prosperity [(udbhavāya);32 or the well-being (kṣemāya)33]; asya — of this [world (viśvasya)34]; yajñeśaḥ — the Lord of Sacrifice; upādatta — assumed [gṛhītavān35]; dvitīyam — the second advent [avatāra36]; vapuḥ — in the form; saukaram — of the divine boar [Varāhadeva37]; uddhariṣyan38 — with the intent to uplift [uddhartu-kāmaḥ39]; mahīm — the earth; gatām — which had fallen; rasātala — [into] the depths of Rasātala [the sixth of the seven subterranean realms, inhabited by the class of demons known as the dānavas and daityas].
Translation
Thereafter, for the prosperity of this world, the Lord of Sacrifice (Yajñeśa) assumed the second avatāra in the form of the divine boar [Varāhadeva] with the intent to uplift the earth, which had fallen into the depths of Rasātala.
