सहस्रमूर्धश्रवणाक्षिनासिकं सहस्रमौल्यम्बरकुण्डलोल्लसत् ॥ ४ ॥
sahasra-pādoru-bhujānanādbhutam
sahasra-mūrdha-śravaṇākṣi-nāsikaṁ
sahasra-mauly-ambara-kuṇḍalollasat
Synonyms
cakṣuṣā — with the eye or vision; adabhra — that is undiminished [of the very essence of conscious enlightenment (jñānātmakam);13 or transphenomenal (aprākṛta)14]; [here referring to the immediate vision of those who are perfected through bhakti (bhaktyā siddhānāṁ pratyakṣam),15 the devotional transcendentalists]; paśyanti — behold; adaḥ — that; rūpam — form [of the Puruṣa (pauruṣaṁ rūpam)16]; adbhutam — [which is] wonderful; sahasra — [having] thousands; pāda — [of] feet; ūru — thighs; bhuja — arms; ānana — [and] faces; sahasra — [with] thousands; mūrdha — [of] heads; śravaṇa — ears; akṣi — eyes; nāsikam — [and] noses; ullasat — [and] effulgent [śobhamānaḥ17]; sahasra — [with] thousands; mauli — [of] crowns; ambara — garments; kuṇḍala — [and] earrings.
Translation
With enlightened vision, [the devotional transcendentalists] behold that form of the Puruṣa, which is wonderful, having thousands of feet, thighs, arms, and faces, with thousands of heads, ears, eyes, and noses, and effulgent with thousands of crowns, garments, and earrings.
