SB 1.3.35
वर्णयन्ति स्म कवयो वेदगुह्यानि हृत्पतेः ॥ ३५ ॥
varṇayanti sma kavayo veda-guhyāni hṛt-pateḥ
Synonyms
[Now, this same state of establishment in Brahman is demonstrated (evaṁ brahmatvaṁ darśitam) by exhibiting the state of establishment in Bhagavān (bhagavattvaṁ darśayitvā).160]; kavayaḥ — enlightened sages; varṇayanti sma — describe [or regard (manyante)]; veda-guhyāni — the essential mystery of the Vedas [concealed in or by the Vedas (vedeṣu vedair vā guhyāni)161]; janmāni — the births; karmāṇi — [and] actions; hṛt-pateḥ — of the Lord of the heart [the Immanent Self (antaryāminaḥ);162 who is beyond the intellective capacity of all beings (sarva-buddhy-agocarasya)]; ajanasya hi — who is indeed unborn [devoid of phenomenal birth (prākṛta-janma-rahitasya)]; ca — and; akartuḥ — inactive [bereft of phenomenal action (prākṛta-karma-rahitasya)]; evam — in precisely the same manner [as described in the immediately preceding verse (yathaivāvyavahita pūrvoktāḥ), meaning that they recognize (manyante) that just as the wealth of the immediate realization of Brahman (brahmānubhava-sampattī) occurs only upon the dissolution (uparatāv eva) of māyā’s sāttvika-vidyā function, so too, the wealth of the immediate realization of Bhagavān’s divine birth and actions (taj-janma-karmānubhava-sampattī) occurs to sādhakas only upon the transcendence of both māyā’s vidyā function and brahma-sampatti itself (tat-tad uparatāv eva), wherein the word sampatti, “wealth,” means “direct attainment” (sākṣāl-labdhiḥ). This is evidenced in the case of Śukadeva, whose being impelled by divine love (rāgataḥ pravṛtti) is described in SB 12.12.68 as taking place even by abandonment of his resolute fixity in Brahman (brahma-nisthā-parityāgenāpi)].
Translation
Enlightened sages describe the essential mystery of the Vedas — the births and actions of the Lord of the heart, who is indeed unborn and inactive — in precisely the same manner [as the wealth realized by sādhakas only upon the transcendence of māyā’s vidyā function and even the wealth of the realization of Brahman].
