यत्रेमे सदसद्रूपे प्रतिषिद्धे स्वसंविदा ।
अविद्ययात्मनि कृते इति तद्ब्रह्मदर्शनम् ॥ ३३ ॥
yatreme sad-asad-rūpe pratiṣiddhe sva-saṁvidā
avidyayātmani kṛte iti tad brahma-darśanam

Synonyms

[Sūta now denies that there is any connection with the gross and subtle forms just described in the jīva’s svarūpa or that of Bhagavān. In this and the next verse, he also specifies the Brahman mentioned in the previous chapter (in SB 1.2.11).155]; brahma-darśanam — the immediate perception of Brahman [brahma-sākṣātkāraḥ]; tat — [is] that [vision (darśanam)]; yatra — in which [yasmin]; ime — these two; sat-asat — gross and subtle [sthūla-sūkṣma]; rūpe — forms [or bodies (śarīre)]; kṛte — [which] are superimposed [adhyaste]; ātmani — on the self; avidyayā — out of ignorance; pratiṣiddhe — are negated [nivṛtte156]; iti — in the manner just delineated [etat prakāreṇa]; sva-saṁvidā — through authentic knowledge of the self’s essential nature [(jīvātmanaḥ svarūpa-jñānena), additionally implying that these two forms are negated only through that jīva-svarūpa-jñāna which is grounded in the immediate perception of Brahman or Bhagavān (tad-āśrayam eva bhavati) and not by intuition of the self alone independent of the perception of Brahman (kevala sva-saṁvidā te niṣidhe na bhavata iti ca jñāpitam)].

Translation

The immediate perception of Brahman is that vision in which these two gross and subtle forms, which are superimposed on the ātmā out of ignorance, are negated in the manner just delineated, through authentic knowledge of the self’s essential nature.
