हृद्यन्तःस्थो ह्यभद्राणि विधुनोति सुहृत्सताम् ॥ १७ ॥
hṛdy antaḥ stho hy abhadrāṇi vidhunoti suhṛt satām
Synonyms
kṛṣṇaḥ — Śrī Kṛṣṇa; suhṛt — [who is] the benefactor [hita-kārī62]; satām — of His devotees; puṇya-śravaṇa-kīrtanaḥ — [and] in regard to whom the acts of hearing and glorification are themselves purifying; hi63 — verily; antaḥ sthaḥ — becomes established in the hearts [(hṛdaya-sthaḥ); on the pathway of the heart’s reflection (bhāvanā-padavīṁ gataḥ san)64]; śṛṇvatām — of those who hear; sva-kathāḥ — His narrations; vidhunoti — [and] eradicates; abhadrāṇi — all inauspicious predispositions [the habit patterns of desire and so on (kāmādi vāsanāḥ)]; hṛdi — within their hearts.
Translation
Śrī Kṛṣṇa, who is the benefactor of His devotees and in regard to whom the acts of hearing and glorification are themselves purifying, verily becomes established in the hearts of those who hear His narrations and eradicates all inauspicious predispositions therein.
