SB 1.2.12

तच्छ्रद्दधाना मुनयो ज्ञानवैराग्ययुक्तया ।
पश्यन्त्यात्मनि चात्मानं भक्त्या श्रुतगृहीतया ॥ १२ ॥
tac chraddadhānā munayo jñāna-vairāgya-yuktayā
paśyanty ātmani cātmānaṁ bhaktyā śruta-gṛhītayā

Synonyms

[In the next verse, Sūta affirms that the Absolute Reality just defined is attainable only by bhakti accompanied by its attendant characteristics (tac ca tattvaṁ saparikarayā bhaktyā eva prāpyata ity āha).44]; munayaḥ — the contemplative sages [manana-śīlāḥ45]; śraddadhānāḥ — endowed with resolute faith; paśyanti — directly perceive [sākṣāt-kurvanti46]; tat ca — that very [Absolute Reality (tattvam)]; ātmānam — the Supreme Self [(paramātmānam); or the ultimate refuge (āśrayam) of the potencies (śaktīnām) known as intrinsic (svarūpa), jīva, and māyā47]; ātmani — within their own self [in the pure awareness of the witness state (kṣetrajñe); or in the pure cognitive ground (śuddhe cetasi)48]; bhaktyā — by devotion; gṛhītayā — imbibed [prāptayā]; śruta — [through] hearing [by bhakti that is first accessed by hearing the self-revealed truth teachings from the mouth of a realized teacher and then afterward directly imbibed (adau guru-mukhāc chrutā paścād gṛhītā tayā)49]; yuktayā — [and] invested with [or served by (sevitayā)50]; jñāna — immediate awareness [(parokṣaṁ jñānam); or the direct perception of the Supreme Immanent Self that accords with His essential nature (pratyag-ātma-yathātmya-jñāna-yoga)51]; vairāgya — [and] freedom from all attachment; [here meaning bhakti invested with the jñāna and vairāgya that arise directly out of bhakti’s own constitution (svātmajābhyām)52].

Translation

The sages who are endowed with resolute faith directly perceive that very Absolute Reality (tattva), the Supreme Self, within their own self by bhakti, imbibed through hearing [the self-revealed truth teachings] and invested with immediate awareness and freedom from all attachment.
