दिगम्बरं वक्रविकीर्णकेशं प्रलम्बबाहुं स्वमरोत्तमाभम् ॥ २७ ॥
āvarta-nābhiṁ vali-valgūdaraṁ ca
dig-ambaraṁ vakra-vikīrṇa-keśaṁ
pralamba-bāhuṁ svamarottamābham
Synonyms
jatrum — [his] collarbone [situated at the base of the neck (kaṇṭhasyādho bhāge sthite asthinī)213]; nigūḍha — [was] covered [by flesh (māṁsena)]; vakṣasam — [his] chest; pṛthu — [was] broad [vistīrṇam]; tuṅga — [and] high [unnatam]; nābhim — [his] navel; āvarta — [was] distinguished by a deep depression that spiraled downward like a whirlpool [āvarta-vad vartulā viviktā randhra-yuktā214]; ca — and; udaram — [his] abdomen; valgu — [was] lovely [ramyam]; vali — [with] delicate transverse lines at the base [tiryaṅ nimna-rekhābhiḥ]; dik-ambaram — [he was] naked [lit., “clothed in the directions alone” (diśa evāmbaraṁ yasya)]; keśam — [his] hair; vakra215 — [was] tangled; vikīrṇa — [and] disheveled; bāhum — [his] arms; pralamba — [were] long; ābham — [and his] complexion [kāntim216]; su-amara-uttama — [resembled] that of Śrī Kṛṣṇa [who categorically transcends even the foremost of the devas (deva-śreṣṭheṣv apy uttamaḥ śrī kṛṣṇas tat-tulya-kāntim)217].
Translation
His collarbone was covered by flesh, his chest was broad and high, his navel was distinguished by a deep depression that spiraled downward like a whirlpool, and his abdomen was lovely, with delicate transverse lines at the base. He was naked, his hair was tangled and disheveled, his arms were long, and his complexion resembled that of Śrī Kṛṣṇa [who categorically transcends even the foremost of the devas].
