विनिर्गच्छन्धनुष्कोट्या निधाय पुरमागतः ॥ ३० ॥
vinirgacchan dhanuṣ-koṭyā nidhāya puram āgataḥ

tu — yet [indicating the suppression of his normal and prior state of enlightened awareness (tu śabdena pūrva-jñānaṁ nivartitam)256]; ruṣā — out of anger [krodhena257]; saḥ — he [the king (rājā)258]; vinirgacchan — while about to depart [nirgantum udyuktaḥ]; nidhāya — placed; gata-asum — a dead [(mṛtam);259 its vital force having departed (gata-prāṇam)]; uragam — snake [sarpam]; aṁse — on the shoulder [skandhe260]; brahma-ṛṣeḥ — of the brāhmaṇa sage; dhanuḥ-koṭyā — with the end of his bow [cāpāgreṇa261]; āgataḥ — [and] returned [yayau]; puram — to his palace.
Translation
Yet, out of anger, the king, while about to depart, placed a dead snake on the shoulder of the brāhmaṇa sage with the end of his bow and returned to his palace.
