न सम्मुमोहोरुभयाद्भगवत्यर्पिताशयः ॥ २ ॥
na sammumohorubhayād bhagavaty arpitāśayaḥ
Synonyms
tu — moreover [here implying Parīkṣit’s categorical distinction from other human beings (tu śabda itarebhyo janebhyaḥ parīkṣito vailakṣaṇyaṁ dyotayati)4]; yaḥ — he; āśayaḥ — [whose] heart [whose entire internal quantum (antaḥkaraṇam)5]; arpita — was offered; bhagavati — to Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa [signifying the cause of his nonbewilderment (sammohābhāve-hetuḥ bhagavaty arpitāśaya iti)6]; na sammumoha — was not bewildered [was not frightened (nābibhet ity arthaḥ)]; uru-bhayāt — [in the face of] the excruciating fear; prāṇa-viplavāt — [of] imminent death [of the destruction of life (prāṇa-nāśaḥ);7 present before him (vināśe prapte sati)8]; takṣakāt — [in the form of] the snake Takṣaka [takṣaka-nāgāt9]; utthitāt — [and] occasioned [(samupasthitāt); or impelled (preritāt)10]; brahma-kopa — [by] the wrath of a brāhmaṇa [in the form of a brāhmaṇa’s curse (brāhmaṇa-śāpātmakena)].
Translation
Moreover, Parīkṣit, whose heart was offered to Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa, was not bewildered in the face of the excruciating fear of imminent death, present before him in the form of the snake Takṣaka and occasioned by the wrath of a brāhmaṇa.
