SB 1.18.17

तन्नः परं पुण्यमसंवृतार्थमाख्यानमत्यद्भुतयोगनिष्ठम् ।
आख्याह्यनन्ताचरितोपपन्नं पारीक्षितं भागवताभिरामम् ॥ १७ ॥
tan naḥ paraṁ puṇyam asaṁvṛtārtham
ākhyānam atyadbhuta-yoga-niṣṭham
ākhyāhy anantācaritopapannaṁ
pārīkṣitaṁ bhāgavatābhirāmam

Synonyms

ākhyāhi — kindly relate [kathaya138]; naḥ — to us [asmabhyam139]; asaṁvṛta-artham — in an unambiguous manner [clearly (spaṣṭā);140 without concealing the true import (anācchāditārtham);141 in a manner that accords with the factual nature of its disclosure (yathā syāt);142 and that unequivocally illuminates the ultimate end to be attained and the means of its attainment (asandigdha-sādhya-sādhana-bodhakam)143]; tat — this [idam144]; ākhyānam — narration [Śrī Bhāgavata Purāṇam145]; pārīkṣitam — [spoken] to Parīkṣit [parīkṣite kathitam]; param — [which is] supremely; puṇyam — purifying [which purifies the heart or the inner core of being (sattva-śodhakam)]; ati-adbhuta-yoga-niṣṭham — exclusively intent upon the exceedingly wonderful yoga [of devotion (aty-adbhuta-yogo bhakti-yogas tan-niṣṭham)146]; upapannam — replete with [yuktam]; ācarita — the divine acts [(ceṣṭitaiḥ);147 or the divine play (ācaritāni līlās taiḥ)148]; ananta — [of] the Unlimited One [Bhagavān Hari (anantasya hareḥ);149 or of Bhagavān, whose essential being and constitutional nature are bereft of all divisions or limits (aparicchinna-svarūpa-svabhāvasya bhagavataḥ)150]; [and therefore (ata eva)]; abhirāmam — a source of complete delight for [that in which the devotees delight completely (abhito ramante asmin);151 which bestows bliss (ānanda-karam);152 or which is especially dear to (priyam)]; bhāgavata — Bhagavān’s pure devotees [bhāgavatānām].

Translation

Kindly relate to us in an unambiguous manner this narration [Śrī Bhāgavata Purānam] spoken to Parīkṣit, which is supremely purifying, exclusively intent upon the exceedingly wonderful yoga of bhakti, replete with the divine acts of the Unlimited One [Bhagavān Hari], and therefore a source of complete delight for Bhagavān’s pure devotees.
