SB 1.18.11

ऋषय ऊचुः
सूत जीव समाः सौम्य शाश्वतीर्विशदं यशः ।
यस्त्वं शंससि कृष्णस्य मर्त्यानाममृतं हि नः ॥ ११ ॥
ṛṣaya ūcuḥ
sūta jīva samāḥ saumya śāśvatīr viśadaṁ yaśaḥ
yas tvaṁ śaṁsasi kṛṣṇasya martyānām amṛtaṁ hi naḥ

Synonyms

ṛṣayaḥ — the sages; uvāca — said; saumya sūta — O gentle Sūta; jīva — may you live [may you sustain your vital life (prāṇān dhāraya)83]; samāḥ — [for] many long years [vatsarān84]; śāśvatīḥ — [extending] without end [anantarān]; hi — because [yasmāt85]; yaḥ tvam — you; śaṁsasi — are disclosing [kīrtayasi]; naḥ — to us [asmākam]; martyānām — [who are] but mortal beings [who are destined for death (maraṇa-dharmāṇām)86]; viśadam — the immaculate [viśuddham]; yaśaḥ — glory; kṛṣṇasya — of Śrī Kṛṣṇa [who is of the essential nature of eternal bliss (sadānanda-svarūpasya)87]; amṛtam — [which is] of the very essence of immortal nectar [meaning that it repels death (maraṇa-nivarttakam); or that it bestows deathlessness in the form of liberation (amaratva-sampādakaṁ mokṣadam)88].

Translation

The sages said: O gentle Sūta, may you live for many long years extending without end, because you are disclosing to us, who are but mortal beings, the immaculate glory of Śrī Kṛṣṇa, which is of the very essence of immortal nectar.
