अमूनि पञ्च स्थानानि ह्यधर्मप्रभवः कलिः ।
औत्तरेयेण दत्तानि न्यवसत्तन्निदेशकृत् ॥ ४० ॥

Synonyms
kaliḥ — Kali; prabhavaḥ — the source [or impeller (utpādakaḥ)246]; adharma — [of] unrighteousness; tat-nideśa-kṛt — being now obedient to the order [(ājñānuvarttī san);247 (ājñā-kartā)248]; tat — of him [Parīkṣit (tasya parīk-ṣitaḥ)249]; hi — assuredly [or undoubtedly (nitarām)250]; nyavasat — went to live; amūni — in those [amīṣu251]; pañca — five; sthānāni — places [sthāneṣu252]; dattāni — assigned [to him]; auttareyeṇa — by the son of Uttarā [Parīkṣit (uttarā-putreṇa)253].
Translation
Kali, the source of adharma, being now obedient to Parīkṣit’s order, assuredly went to live in those five places assigned to him by the son of Uttarā.
