SB 1.17.22
धर्मं ब्रवीषि धर्मज्ञ धर्मोऽसि वृषरूपधृक् ।
यदधर्मकृतः स्थानं सूचकस्यापि तद्भवेत् ॥ २२ ॥
dharmaṁ bravīṣi dharma-jña dharmo’si vṛṣa-rūpa-dhṛk
yad adharma-kṛtaḥ sthānaṁ sūcakasyāpi tad bhavet
Synonyms
rājā — the king; uvāca — said; dharma-jña — O knower of dharma; bravīṣi — [what] you speak; dharmam — [is in perfect accord with] moral or religious truth [in the form of not identifying the assailant, in spite of knowing who he is, and speaking as if to suggest that the true cause is undetermined (anirdhāritam iva bruvan ghātakaṁ jānan api na sūcayed ity evaṁ rūpaṁ dharmaṁ bravīṣi)126]; [and therefore you (atas tvam)127]; asi — are; dharmaḥ — the direct embodiment of dharma [(sākṣād-dharma eva); or the presiding deity of dharma (dharmādhiṣṭhātṛ-devatā-rūpo’si)128]; vṛṣa-rūpa-dhṛk — in the form of a bull; [since (yataḥ)]; yat — whatever; sthānam — destination [such as hell (narakādi)129]; adharma-kṛtaḥ — belongs to [i.e., awaits] the perpetrator of immorality [adharma-kartuḥ]; bhavet — inevitably becomes; tat — that; sūcakasya — of the informant; api — as well.
Translation
The king said: O knower of dharma, what you speak is in perfect accord with moral or religious truth, and therefore you are the direct embodiment of dharma in the form of a bull, since whatever destination awaits the perpetrator of immorality is inevitably attained by the informant as well.
