आहर्तास्मि भुजं साक्षादमर्त्यस्यापि साङ्गदम् ॥ १५ ॥
āhartāsmi bhujaṁ sākṣād amartyasyāpi sāṅgadam
Synonyms
āhartā asmi — I will cut off [āhariṣyāmi73]; bhujam — the arm; sa-aṅgadam — along with the armlet [(bāhu-bhūṣaṇena saha);74 by this expression, pulling the arms out from the very root is implied (ity anena mūlata utpāṭya darśitam)]; [of anyone (tasya)]; amartyasya api — even of an immortal [devasyāpi]; sākṣāt — in person [vartamānam75]; yaḥ — who; [becomes (bhavati)76]; niraṅkuśaḥ — a reckless [(nirbhayaḥ san);77 or unrestrained (anivāritaḥ)78]; āgaḥ-kṛt — perpetrator of violence [aparādha-kartā]; anāgaḥsu — upon harmless [nir-aparādhiṣu79]; bhūteṣu — living beings [prāṇi-mātreṣu80]; iha — here in this world [loke81].
Translation
I will cut off the arm, along with the armlet, of anyone—even of a deva in person—who becomes a reckless perpetrator of violence upon harmless living beings here in this world.
