SB 1.16.9

मन्दस्य मन्दप्रज्ञस्य वयो मन्दायुषश्च वै ।
निद्रया ह्रियते नक्तं दिवा च व्यर्थकर्मभिः ॥ ९ ॥
mandasya manda-prajñasya vayo mandāyuṣaś ca vai
nidrayā hriyate naktaṁ divā ca vyartha-karmabhiḥ

Synonyms

vayaḥ — the life [āyuḥ33]; mandasya — of an indolent person [alasasya]; manda-prajñasya — of meager intelligence [jñānābhāvaḥ34]; ca — and; manda-āyuṣaḥ — diminished lifespan; vai — [is] certainly [niścayena35]; hriyate — stolen away [apahriyate]; nidrayā — by sleeping; naktam — at night [rātrau]; ca — and; vyartha-karmabhiḥ — by futile endeavors; divā — during the day [ahni].

Translation

The life of an indolent person of meager intelligence and diminished lifespan is certainly stolen away by sleeping at night and by futile endeavors during the day.
