Translation
Śaunaka inquired: For what reason did the king, during his world conquest, seize Kali, that exceedingly vile śūdra, who, while masquerading as a king, kicked a cow with his foot? O greatly fortunate one, please relate this story if it pertains to the narrations of Śrī Kṛṣṇa or to those of His devotees, who lick the honey of His lotus feet. What is the use of all other mundane topics that are simply a useless waste of life?
