आसन्सपत्नविजयो लोकाश्च यदनुग्रहात् ॥ ९ ॥
āsan sapatna-vijayo lokāś ca yad-anugrahāt
Synonyms
[“Since Śrī Kṛṣṇa is the cause of our fulfillment in the matter of all possible human goals, all of these inauspicious omens could not occur other than by His disappearance” (asmākaṁ sarva-puruṣārthatve hetuḥ śrī kṛṣṇo’tas tad-viyogaṁ vināniṣṭaṁ na syāt). With this in mind, Yudhiṣṭhira spoke as follows (ity āśayenāha).30]; yasmāt — on whose account [śrī kṛṣṇa-hetoḥ]; yat anugrahāt — [and] by whose grace; naḥ — our [asmākam]; sampadaḥ — abundant prosperity [meaning an array of luxurious items suitable for enjoyment (bhogya-bhogopaskaraṇādi-samṛddhayaḥ)31]; rājyam — kingdom; dārāḥ — wives; prāṇāḥ — lives [maintained by His protecting us from calamities (āpadbhyo rakṣayā jīvanam)]; kulam — dynasty [preserved by protecting Parīkṣit (parīkṣid rakṣayā santitaḥ)]; prajāḥ — progeny; vijayaḥ — victory; sapatna — [over] enemies [śatruṇām]; ca — and; lokāḥ — status in the higher worlds [such as heaven, attainable through religious ritual acts (yajñādi-sāddhyāḥ svargādayaḥ)]; āsan — have all come to be [babhūvuḥ32].
Translation
It is on His account and by His grace that our abundant prosperity, kingdom, wives, lives, dynasty, progeny, victory over enemies, and status in the higher worlds have all come to be.33
