प्रत्युत्थायाभिवाद्याह सानुजोऽभ्यर्चयन्निव ॥ ३७ ॥
pratyutthāyābhivādyāha sānujo’bhyarcayann iva
Synonyms
atha — at that moment [tasmin eva samaye117]; bhagavān — the omniscient [sarvajñaḥ]; nāradaḥ — Nārada; ājagāma — arrived there [tatra]; saha-tumburuḥ — [playing his vīṇā and] accompanied by the gandharva Tumburu [vīṇāṁ tri-tantrīṁ dhvanayan bhagavān saha tumburuḥ118]; [on seeing him (tam avalokya)]; sa-anujaḥ — [Yudhiṣṭhira] along with his younger brothers; pratyutthāya — stood up to welcome; [the sage (munim)119]; abhivādya — saluted him respectfully; abhyarcayan — worshiped him; iva — in some measure [the word iva, lit., “as if,” is used here to indicate that Yudhiṣṭhira was not able to worship Nārada properly because of his grief (śokākrāntaḥ yathocitaṁ pūjanaṁ tu na kṛtavān iti sūcanāyeva-śabdaḥ)]; āha — [and] spoke as follows.
Translation
At that moment, the omniscient Nārada arrived there, playing his vīṇā and accompanied by the gandharva Tumburu. On seeing him, Yudhiṣṭhira, along with his younger brothers, stood up to welcome the sage, saluted him respectfully, worshiped him in some measure, and spoke as follows.
