चित्रध्वजपताकाग्रैरन्तः प्रतिहतातपाम् ॥ १३ ॥
citra-dhvaja-patākāgrair antaḥ pratihatātapām

kautuka — festive [kautukena utsavena42]; toraṇām — decorations [(toraṇāni); made of mango blossoms and other natural articles (āmra-pallavamayāni)43]; kṛta — adorned [kṛtāni nirmitāni44]; gopura — the main city gate [pura-dvāram]; dvāra — the entrances of the houses [gṛha-dvāram]; mārgeṣu — [and] the roadways; ātapām — [while] sunlight [the heat of the sun (sūrya-jvālā)45]; pratihata — was obstructed [nirasta46]; antaḥ — [from] the city’s inner quarters [antar-madhye47]; agraiḥ — by the [fluttering] tips; citra — [of] the various; dhvajāḥ — flags [marked with Garuḍa and other insignia (garuḍādi cih-nāṅkitāḥ)]; patākāḥ — [and] banners [marked with mantras invoking victory (jaya prada mantrāṅkitāḥ)].
Translation
Festive decorations adorned the main city gate, the entrances of the houses, and the roadways, while sunlight was obstructed from the city’s inner quarters by the fluttering tips of the various flags and banners.
