SB 1.7.20

अथोपस्पृश्य सलिलं सन्दधे तत्समाहितः ।
अजानन्नपि संहारं प्राणकृच्छ्र उपस्थिते ॥ २० ॥
athopaspṛśya salilaṁ sandadhe tat samāhitaḥ
ajānann api saṁhāraṁ prāṇa-kṛcchra upasthite

Synonyms

atha — then; prāṇa-kṛcchre — the threat to his life [prāṇāṇāṁ kṛcchre kaṣṭe83]; upasthite — having arrived [prāpte sati84]; upaspṛśya — he sipped; salilam — water; samāhitaḥ — concentrated his mind [(kṛta-dhyānaḥ);85 in readiness to deploy the missile (astra-prayogopayukta-manaḥ praṇidhāna-yuktaḥ)86]; sandadhe — [and] fixed [prayuyojya87]; tat — it [the brahmāstra weapon88]; [to his bow]; ajānan api — even though he did not know; saṁhāram — how to retract it [astropasaṁhāram89].

Translation

Then, the threat to his life being imminent, he sipped water [ācamana], concentrated his mind, and fixed the brahmāstra weapon to his bow, even though he did not know how to retract it.
