शारद्वतं गुरुं कृत्वा देवा यत्राक्षिगोचराः ॥ ३ ॥
śāradvataṁ guruṁ kṛtvā devā yatrākṣi-gocarāḥ
Synonyms
kṛtvā — having selected [vṛtvā10]; śāradvatam — Kṛpācārya; gurum — [as his] guru or officiating priest; [Parīkṣit]; ājahāra — performed [kṛtavān11]; trīn — three; aśva-medhān — horse sacrifices; gaṅgāyām — on the bank of the Gaṅgā [gaṅgā-tīre12]; bhūri-dakṣiṇān — [in which] lavish donations [were offered to the priests and honorable members of the assembly (bhūri-dakṣiṇān iti sabhāryā-dakṣiṇāḥ puṣṭā iti)13]; yatra — [and] wherein [yeṣv aśvamedheṣu14]; devāḥ — the devas; akṣi-gocarāḥ — were visibly present [pratyakṣāḥ15].
Translation
Having selected Kṛpācārya as his officiating priest, Parīkṣit performed three horse sacrifices on the bank of the Gaṅgā, in which lavish donations were offered to the priests and wherein the devas were visibly present.
