पराजितो वाथ भवान्नोत्तमैर्नासमैः पथि ॥ ४२ ॥
parājito vātha bhavān nottamair nāsamaiḥ pathi

tvam na kaccit — did you not [did you (kim)150]; agamaḥ — have physical relations [gatavān]; agamyām — [with] an unsuitable [gantum ayogyām151]; striyam — woman [of ill-repute (ninditām)]; vā — or; [with a woman who]; gamyām [api152] — [although] suitable; asat-kṛtām — behaved disrespectfully [(apamānam kṛtvā);153 wearing dirty clothes (malina-vastrādikām); or without having bathed or performed other preparatory rites (snānādi-saṁskāra-rahitām)154]; atha — or; bhavān [kim] — were you; na parājitaḥ — not defeated; pathi — on the path back home; na uttamaiḥ — by someone in no way superior to you [meaning an equal (anuttamaiḥ samair ity arthaḥ)]; vā — or; asamaiḥ — by one who was not at all your match [an inferior (adhamaiḥ)].
Translation
Did you have physical relations with an unsuitable woman or with a woman who, although suitable, behaved disrespectfully? Were you defeated on the path back home by someone in no way superior to you [an equal] or by one who was not at all your match [an inferior]?
