नानुरूपानुरूपाश्च निर्गुणस्य गुणात्मनः ॥ १९ ॥
nānurūpānurūpāś ca nirguṇasya guṇātmanaḥ
Synonyms
satyāḥ — the true; āśiṣaḥ — benedictions [true, because the blessings of happiness and so on eternally exist in Śrī Kṛṣṇa without deviation (satyā iti, sukhādīnāṁ śrī kṛṣṇe vyabhicārābhāvāt)50]; dvija-īritāḥ — pronounced by the [brāhmaṇas dvijair prayuktāḥ51]; aśrūyanta — that were heard; tatra tatra — here and there [along the path (mārge)52]; na anurūpāḥ — were [both] inappropriate; nirguṇasya — for He who is beyond all material qualification [meaning that benedictions such as “May You be happy” were inappropriate for He who is the direct embodiment of supreme bliss (nirguṇasya paramānandasya sukhī bhavety ādayo nānurūpāḥ);53 or inappropriate from the perspective of Bhagavān’s supreme majesty (aiśvarya-dṛṣṭyā)54]; ca — and; anurūpāḥ — appropriate; guṇa-ātmanaḥ — for He who is self-endowed with [transcendental (aprākṛta)55] qualities [with which He descends to enact His humanlike play (manuṣya-nāṭyāvatāre anurūpāś cety arthaḥ);56 or appropriate from the perspective of Bhagavān’s mellifluousness (mādhurya-dṛṣṭyā)57].
Translation
The true benedictions pronounced by the brāhmaṇas that were heard here and there were both inappropriate for He who is beyond all material qualification, and appropriate for He who is self-endowed with transcendental qualities [with which He descends to enact His humanlike play].
